Disobeyed will attract disciplinary action, hence are disqualified for further official events.

APCA General Secretary K. Kanna Reddy has been awarded a doctorate!

M.A., M.P.Ed., M.Phil., Ph.D.

Mr. K. Kanna Reddy, Lecturer in Physical Education, A V College, Domalguda has been awarded a doctorate degree in Physical Education, from Osmania University under the guidance of Prof. K. Surender Reddy on the topic - An Exploratory Study on the level of confidence and mental process of chess players and non chess players.

He belongs to Nagireddy Gudam Village in Nalgonda District. He is Chess FIDE Arbiter and Coach. At present the Secretary of AP Chess Association. He organized a number of international and national tournaments in AP.

Basically, he is a Footballer and University Boxing team captain. He studied intermediate in Govt. Jr. College Miryalaguda, Nlg. Degree in Govt. City College Hyd. P.G. from Arts College O.U. B.P.Ed. from Govt. College of Physical Education Domalaguda. M.P.Ed. from Marathwad University Maharshtra. M.Phil. from Annamalai University Chennai. Now completed Ph.D. from Osmania University. APCA congratulates on attaining his Doctoral Degree!.

AICF: Kind Attention: Medical Evaluation of the age of Chess Players - The Medical Evaluation to determine the age of the players, will be held at Chennai on 19th,and 20th April, 2014. AICF: Attention Arbiters and Organisers - All the arbiters officiating in FIDE rated chess tournaments, National Championships and International tournaments are instructed to fulfill the following data for unrated players compulsorily in the pairing software, approved by FIDE.

  • Names of the players must be entered correctly, as per records preferably in passport. If passport is not available, their names according to the other authenticated document shall be entered.
  • Correct date of birth must be compulsorily entered, particularly for players playing in rating tournaments for the first time. If date of birth is not entered for these players, new FIDE ID cannot be generated and the tournament will not be accepted by FIDE for rating without the FIDE ID.
  • Arbiters are responsible for omission of date of birth on new unrated players in tournament data.
  • A new unrated player (without FIDE ID) should not be entered in the tournament without the date of birth.
  • AICF will not accept any tournament data from the organizers, if it has any new unrated player without data of birth.

Chess Clocks for the FIDE rated events. As per FIDE instruction the following direction should be followed for all the FIDE events.

  • All the boards should be provided with the chess clocks. Otherwise the tournament will not be rated. Even after it is rated and subsequently if it is found that the players are played without clocks, the FIDE will cancel the rating and a penalty also will be imposed.

Please be guided accordingly.

Anigani Kavya won Silver Medal in World Youth U-14 Girls Blitz Chess Championship 2013

Anigani Kavya won the Silver Medal in the Girls Category U-14 Blitz Chess Champion 2013 held in Al Ain, Dubai, UAE from 17th to 29th Dec, 2013. She has scored 6 points in 7 rounds.

Kavya is the student of Senior Chess Coach Mr. Narahari Ramaraju.

APCA: Grand Master Training Camp: Good News for Young Champions! Grand Master Coaching Camp by Super Grand Master Tornike Sanikidze (2553) of Georgia has confirmed his training session under the auspicious of the Andhra Pradesh Chess Association. The camp dates are from 19th to 23rd November, 2013 (1st session from 10am to 1pm and 2nd session from 3pm to 6pm) at Yoga Hall, L B Stadium, Hyderabad. For registration contact Anand Naik - 9247979886 or S Subba Raju - 9866702431. Tornike Sanikidze, born on 1st January, 1989 is a Grand Master of Georgia. He obtained the title of International Grandmaster in 2008. On 1st September 2009, he touched an Elo rating of 2600 and his present rating is 2553. He was National Champion of Georgia.

The Global Chess Academy organized the 27th Andhra Pradesh State Under-9 Chess Championship for Boys and Girls on 31st October and 1st November, 2013 at the Marg Krishnaaya Hotel, M. G. Road, Vijayawada.

Raja Rithvik won the title in boys category and Niranjana Aishwarya Dass won the title in girls category of the state under 9 chess championship.

Boys category winners: 1. Raja Rithvik R., 2. Viswas Dinesh, 3. Chaitanya Sai D., and 4. Datta Ramakrishna J. Girls category winners: 1. Niranjana Aishwarya Dass B., 2. Vyshnavi Chinnam, and 3. Geethika J. These selected players will represent Andhra Pradesh in forthcoming National Championship from 6th to 14th November, 2013 at Chennai.

Guest of honor Grand Master Lalith Babu along with all other dignitaries congratulated the winners and especially appreciated the organisers of the event for their grand success.

Raja Rithvik bags 3 Gold Medals in Asian Schools Chess Championship 2013 at Srilanka

R. Raja Rithvik bagged 3 Gold Medals in Classical Standard, Rapid & Blitz events and Karthik Kumar Pradeep won Silver Medal in Classical Stadard Category for India in the Asian Schools Chess Championship-2013 on 6th September, 2013, in Under-9 Open Category held in Hikkaduwa, Srilanka from 30th August to 6th September.

Rithvik, who has shown his supremacy in all formats of Chess, is selected along with silver medal winner Karthik Kumar Pradeep to represent India in the prestigious World Schools Chess Championship to be conducted by the World Chess Federation in Lima, Peru in April, 2014.

Raja Rithvik's coach K. Narasimha Rao expressed his happiness over his student’s extraordinary performance and attributed the success to their dedicated hard work and study.

Andhra Pradesh Chess Association President Sri A. Narasimha Reddy and General Secretary Sri K. Kanna Reddy have congratulated Raja Rithvik for winning Gold medals in the prestigious Asian event and hoped that Rithvik with his brilliancy and sharpness on the board will bring credit to India in the upcoming World Schools Chess Championship.

SAAP & APMDC: "Kreeda Jyothi" Cash incentives for young achievers in sports: - The AP Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC), as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, has announced cash incentives for young achievers in sports under the state government-sponsored "Kreeda Jyothi" scheme. Eligible players can apply on or before 31st August, 2013 to Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP).

Harsha Bharathakoti won the Gold Medal in the open category of National Under-13 Chess Championship - 2013 held in Pondicherry from 29th June to 8th July, 2013.

Harsha qualified to represent India in Under-14 category of forthcoming Asian Youth Chess Championship 2014 and World Youth Chess Championship 2014 in South Africa (Durban).

Harsha is one of the beloved students of renowned chess coach Narahari Ramaraju.

Andhra Pradesh Chess Players won 4 Medals in Asian Youth Chess Championship held in Iran from 19th to 27th June, 2013.

Kushagra Mohan of Hyderabad won Bronze Medal in the Standard Under 10 Open Category. Priyanka Nutakki of Vijayawada won Gold Medal and Silver Medal each in the Blitz and Standard Under 12 Girls Category. Potluri Supreetha won Silver Medal in the Rapid Under 12 Girls Category. Bodda Pratyusha won the Gold Medal in the Standard Under 18 Girls Category.

APCA dignitaries congratulated the medal winners. Senior Chess Coach Ramaraju celebrating the tremendous victory of his students Bodda Pratyusha, Priyanka Nutakki and Kushagra Mohan.

PSPB and Air India wins the National Team Chess Championships - 2013

Open Category Winners

Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) won the HCA 33rd National Team Chess Championship with a round to spare. PSPB fielding an all GM's team won all their matches and finished with 18 match points from 9 matches. Indian Railways B and A team finished 2nd and 3rd respectively with 14 and 13 match points to their credit. PSPB beat Air India on the top table in the final round with a 3.5 - 0.5 score with sole draw coming from the 2nd board truce between GM Adhiban and IM Chandrashekhar Gokhale.

Women Category Winners

GM Abhijeet Gupta invasion through the b file on the 26th move was so swift, his opponent Satyapragyan’s counter attack never came to lime light and the game ended in 33 moves when material loss was inevitable.

In the corresponding women section as expected Air India completed the formalities with 14 match points by accounting for 3.5 – 0.5 win over Tamilnadu. Vaishali's half a point against WGM Bhakthi Kulkarni was a sole consolation, with the former having a better position when signing the truce.

FIVE-TIME World Champion Viswanathan Anand honoured by APCA along with AICF and various state associations at AICF Annual General Body Meeting, Comfort Inn, Marina Towers, Egmore, Chennai on Sunday, 3rd June, 2012. Among the dignitaries Major K. A. Shiva Prasad, Vice President, APCA and K. Kanna Reddy, General Secretary, APCA celebrated victory of universal icon Vishy Anand.
