ALANA 'S U10 GOLD KEEPS AP IN NATIONAL MEDAL TABLE
Alana Meenakshi Kolagatla, a 10-year-old girl from Visakhapatnam won the U10 Girls National Championship - 2021 today in a tournament which was held on TORNELO platform. She triumphed National U10 Girls title undefeated by securing 10.5 points out of 11 rounds. She won first 10 rounds and the 11th round drew. She represented Andhra Pradesh in the present championship as a topper of Andhra Pradesh in the recent state championship which was held during 19th & 20th June, 2021. Her Father & Mother Mr & Mrs Madhu & Aparna expressed their joy and happiness for the Alana's present achievement. Even though this was her first online championship, she comfortably encountered her opponents in the new platform and for which she was practicing since 1st of June on the present TORNELO platform by playing various higher age group tournaments in Andhra Pradesh.
Alana dedicated the present championship to her parents Mr & Mrs Madhu, Aparna, who have supported her throughout the career so far. Her brother, Mr Dhruv, is a national champion in Tennis Age groups, it was a great balance by the parents who brought their kids in two different sports that too at a national level.
On a question present before her, she replied that "U10 World" is her present target and she is planning to go to SERBIA this month to participate in the International Tournaments for better exposure. She is aiming for increase in her present ELO rating and she felt that medals in age group are intermediate only but to become the Master Title is her aspiration. She is hoping that she will become WFM within one year if off-line tournaments come into action in India.
When it came to her notice that this is one and only National Gold Medal for Andhra Pradesh in different age groups for 2021, she replied that she is very happy to be a part of being Andhra Pradesh name in National circuits.
With regard to higher age group performance in U12 category she missed the top-5 narrowly.
Finally, she thanked her coach Chiranjeevi, and Mr TV Rao who has supported her as a playing partner, for preparing her for this Championship.
Alana is an International Chess player proving from her 7th year onwards in the international Chess 'age' category.

Alana have got laurels by winning several Chess championships with good record from 2018. She continued her winning streak with gold, silver and bronze medals to our countries tally. Winning gold in the standard format at Asian Schools U7 Girls Classic, Sri Lanka bagged the WCM (Women Candidate Master) title once her rating reaches 1800 ELO points.
