Grand Master KARTHIK VENKATA RAMAN felicitated by Andhra Chess Association for becoming National Champion at Tirupati on 05.01.2023. 7 years back GM Lalithbabu won the National Championship . ACA president sri KVV Sarma on behalf of Andhra Chess Association met GM lKarthik greeted Karthikand his parents sri Venkataraman Sabhapathy, smt Praveena Kumari Venkataraman, and his sister Anusha Venkataraman. GM Karthik dedicated this victory to his parents. He told unless his father support he would not have achieved this prestigious position. According to him at his 7th birthday Chess board presented by his mother made him Chess player. Due to his exams he has not much practiced before tournament and after winning crucial game with GM Abhijit Gupta he had some hopes of Title. Also said that the blunder made by him during Abhijit match could not be capitalized by Abhijit and he won the match after dramatic combinations. Mr Sabhapathy venkataraman is confident about his son and he told that his son is best in studies also. Just for 10 to 15 days of study karthik finished all his graduation studies and for which he felt happy. He also added some times he want to take advise of Karthik in business also. Both parents and Karthik remembered their 1st coach Mr Navin who told them in the initial career that karthik is GM material. Later they thanked Mr P Ramakrishna , professional coach of Visakhapatnam who turned the Karrhik career to professional chess player. Also he thanked his friend advocate sri purushotham reddy who helped him during his sons professional career. Mother Praveena remembered her travel along with karthik for state meets . Karthik felt that his senior players of AP CRG Krishna, Lalithbabu and some other players who stand for his foreign tours and moral support. When asked about young talents he told that rather than winning respecting principles and determination, regular practice, are the key factors for success. He was very happy to participate in world championship qualifying matches with the present title.
