India's highest civilian honour for children, The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2023 was awarded to Alana Meenakshi of vizag (AP).
Kumari.Alana Meenakshi, Vizag player of AP received Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) Award for the year 2023. Alana received this award from Hon.President of India, interacted with the Hon.Prime Minister at Delhi besides having participated in Republic Day parade at New Delhi on 26th January 2023. No doubt the award for Alana is not only for Alana but for every Chess player of AP as well as India. She got this award for her consistent performance in Chess for the year 2022 and before. With this award Chess game will become much more popular in AP. Her parents Mr.Madhu Kolagatla, Dr.Aparna and her grandmother Mrs.Lalitha were happy as she was recognized by the highest authorities of Nation. They thanked Central government, State government, Sports Authority, AICF, ACA and AVCA for encouraging Alana. Her coach
Mr. Chiranajeevi and her early playing partner Mr.T.V.Rao were also very happy. Alana parents thanked GM.R.B.Ramesh, Chess Gurukul, FIDE Chessable, IM.Vishal Sareen and all other supporting coaches, players, persons who have helped Alana in reaching this mile stone.
Alana also got an opportunity to meet Hon.Chief Minister of AP and she has been rewarded by the state government which we came to know through the news posted in news papers. It is good sign for all Chess fraternity as AP government is going to consider cash incentives for international medal winners of AP. Her reward becomes the precedent to all international medal winners of AP.
