ANAKAPALLE district chess association recently completed AP U17 open FIDE state championship. The district chess association accepted the challenge for organising tournament during peak exams time. AP is forced to conduct the same due to preponement of Nationals scheduled from 1st May 2023. Within one month from the formation of new district , Mr Venkateswara Rao , president AKP taken up this task on request of ACA.
. The event was held from 21st April to 24th April 2023 at the Sree Vedika A/C Function Hall in Narsipatnam, Anakapalle District.
Initially, there were concerns raised by some coaches and players about the location of the tournament, but these were quickly dispelled as it was revealed that Narsipatnam was a developed area similar to Visakhapatnam city. The tournament went ahead smoothly and drew a total of 86 participants from 15 districts, with almost 30 members from Anakapalle District alone.
The tournament drew in a total of 80 participants, including over 22 International Fide Rated Players, making it a highly competitive event. In the end, Guntur's Druvesh Dondapati emerged as the winner, with Anakapalle District's Midde Dhanush finishing second. Both players were selected to participate in the National Under - 17 tournament in Jalandhar, Punjab.
Mr Bheemarao FA & secretary , ACA for the first time worked as chief arbiter and successfully conducted the event with no technical issues pending with AICF /FIDE. Mr Jwalamukhi, SNA, & Treasurer, ACA, Mr Sudheer from kannurupalem, SNA and Mr Manikanta rao, SNA are the other Arbiters for the tournament.
The closing ceremony was graced by Sri Vooda Venkata Rao, MD of Lammasingi Resorts and Vedika Function Hall, and Counselor Smt. Veeramachineni Jagadeeswari garu. The Andhra Chess Association Secretary, Sri S. Bheemarao garu, Andhra Chess Association Treasure Sri K V Jwalamukhi garu, and All Visakha Chess Association Secretary, Sri Surisetty Manikanta Rao, were also present. The Anakapalle District Chess Association President Sri. M. Venkateswara Rao garu, Secretary Sri A. Srinivasa Rao garu, Vice-President Sri Vooda Ramu garu, and Treasurer Dr. B. Biswas shared the dias, making it a memorable event for all.
Overall, the Andhra Pradesh State Under 17 Fide Rated Chess Championship - 2023 was a resounding success, with the organizers and participants alike lauded for their efforts and skills. Key role of Mr Ramakrishna, CAO of ANAKAPALLE district chess association is remarkable in Co-ordinating players, officials, Arbiters.
