Lakshith & Laasritha Win Visakha District U-09 Chess Titles

Visakhapatnam, April 25:

The Visakha District U-09 Open & Girls Chess Selections – 2025 concluded successfully at Gayathri Vidya Mandir, organized by Acharya Chess Academy on behalf of the All Visakha Chess Association.


The tournament witnessed strong competition, with 64 players in the Open category and 18 players in the Girls category. The Open section was played over 6 rounds, while the Girls section had 5 rounds.

In the Open category, Lakshith Gutti emerged as the champion with a perfect score of 6 points, followed by Bhavadeep Geddada, who secured second place with 5 points. They received cash prizes of ₹400/- and ₹300/-, respectively.

In the Girls category, Laasritha Sirisipilli claimed the top spot with 4.5 points, earning ₹400/-, while Aashrtiha Dube secured the runner-up position with 4 points, receiving ₹300/-.

These top players will now represent Visakhapatnam District in the State U-09 Open & Girls Chess Championship – 2025, scheduled to be held in Vijayawada on May 3rd and 4th.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Dr. Babu Rao (President, All Visakha Chess Association), Sri Umamaheswara Rao (Treasurer), and Sri Trinadh (Chess Coach), who awarded the winners with cash prizes, trophies, and certificates.

The tournament was directed by Mr. Prasanth of Acharya Chess Academy and officiated by arbiters MVS Prasad, Kalyan Kumar, Kranthi, and Suryanarayana.
