Candid Knights Hosts Successful Visakha U-11 Chess Selections – 2025
Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam – May 5, 2025
In a remarkable display of young chess talent, the Candid Knights Chess Academy, on behalf of the All Visakha Chess Association, successfully conducted the Visakhapatnam District U11 Open & Girls Chess Selections – 2025 at the Lions Club, Gajuwaka. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and competitive spirit with 97 players in the Open category and 40 in the Girls category.
Across 7 intense rounds in the Open and 6 rounds in the Girls section, budding chess champions battled for top honors and the opportunity to represent Visakhapatnam district at the upcoming State U11 Chess Championships in Guntur.
Winners of the Tournament
Open Category:
- 1st Place: Avasarala Saurjyesh – 6.5 points (Rs. 500 Cash Prize)
- 2nd Place: Shashank Kuncha – 6 points (Rs. 400 Cash Prize)
Girls Category:
- 1st Place: Afsheen Mohammed – 5.5 points (Rs. 500 Cash Prize)
- 2nd Place: Kamalapriya Batta – 5.5 points (Rs. 400 Cash Prize)

The winners were felicitated with trophies, certificates, and cash prizes by esteemed dignitaries:

This event stands as a testament to the ongoing efforts of the All Visakha Chess Association in nurturing and promoting chess talent across the district. The selected players will now carry the hopes of Visakhapatnam at the state level and possibly pave their way to national recognition.
