Hemisha Nannamu Triumphs in Visakhapatnam District Women Chess Selections 2025


Visakhapatnam, June 22:

The Visakhapatnam District Women Chess Selections – 2025, organized by Chaitanya Chess Academy on behalf of the All Visakha Chess Association, concluded successfully at Sree Kashyap Junior & Degree College with 63 women players battling it out across six intense rounds.


Emerging as the standout performer, Hemisha Nannamu secured the first place with an impressive 5.5 points, earning a cash prize of ₹600. Kumari Prasad Jagriti, also with 5.5 points, took second place and received ₹500. Bhandavika Thota and Divya Darshini Moida followed closely with 5 points each, securing third and fourth places, and winning ₹400 and ₹300, respectively.


The top four players have qualified to represent Visakhapatnam District at the AP State Women Chess Championship – 2025, scheduled to be held in NTR District.


The tournament was inaugurated with a ceremonial first move by Dr. Smt. Tanuja Reddy, Judge, Consumer Rights Commission. The prize distribution ceremony was graced by distinguished guests including Smt. Nagalakshmi, Principal of Sree Kashyap Junior College, Dr. R. Babu Rao, President of All Visakha Chess Association & Tournament Director, and Shri V. Srikanth, CAO of the All the Visakha Chess Association.

Tournament arbitration was handled efficiently by M.V.S. Prasad, Raviteja, and Chandrasekhar.
