International Chess Day celebration - 20-07-2025
“ One Move Can Change a Life.”
Dear Esteemed Members,
Warm greetings from Andhra Chess Association.
As the global chess fraternity prepares to celebrate International Chess Day on July 20, a day commemorating the founding of FIDE – the World Chess Federation, and All India Chess Federation (AICF) , we at Andhra Chess Association (ACA) extend our heartfelt wishes to every coach, player, official, parent, and chess enthusiast who has contributed to the growth of this noble game in our state and country.
A Unique and Inclusive Chess Outreach Project
On this meaningful occasion, the Andhra Chess Association is pleased to announce a pioneering social initiative, the first of its kind in India and among very few globally .
“Chess for Every Child – A Ray of Hope through 64 Squares.”
We humbly appeal to all affiliated associations, registered academies, recognized chess clubs, and chess-playing schools across Andhra Pradesh to identify local orphanages, juvenile homes (where children in conflict with law are housed), Special schools/institutions for differently-abled (specially-abled) children, and child care institutions, and to:
Distribute Chess Boards and Basic Chess Learning Books
Initiate Free Introductory Coaching Camps for the children residing in these homes
Encourage Regular Chess Activity by volunteering time or identifying local trainers
Promote Chess as a Tool of Transformation, discipline, and intellectual development
Chess is more than a game — it is a profound educational and rehabilitative tool. It teaches patience, strategic thinking, emotional balance, and decision-making. For children who have faced difficult life circumstances, it can offer a pathway to confidence, creativity, and cognitive growth.
Why This Matters
International Chess Day reminds us of the unifying power of the game and its role in building peaceful, intelligent communities.
By bringing chess to vulnerable children, we offer them not only a game but a skill for life.
This inclusive outreach, initiated by ACA, reflects the spirit of service and innovation that chess inspires.
Your Support is Essential
We request each of our affiliated bodies to kindly:
Identify at least one such home or institution in your district or locality.
Coordinate distribution of chess kits and books, for which ACA will extend guidance or support where possible.
Share photographs and brief reports of your outreach activity with ACA to compile and celebrate the collective effort across Andhra Pradesh.
Let us make this International Chess Day a historic moment — by extending the joy of chess to the most deserving yet neglected children of our society.
Together, let us prove that “One Move Can Change a Life.”
With warm regards and best wishes,
Andhra Chess Association
