World Chess Day Celebration at Govt. Children’s Home for Girls, Visakhapatnam

As part of the week-long celebrations marking World Chess Day on July 20th, the Andhra Chess Association (ACA), in collaboration with its partner organizations, is conducting programs across various districts.

As part of this initiative, Sri Suresh Adusumilli, President of ACA, along with Sri Aaqil Pathan, Deputy Commandant of the Indian Coast Guard and President Awardee, visited the Government Children’s Home for Girls, Visakhapatnam to distribute chess boards and educational materials under the special theme "One Move Can Change a Life", a part of the Chess for Everyone campaign.

This initiative aims to introduce the game of chess to underprivileged children, with a focus on enhancing memory, decision-making, and rational thinking skills. Chess is seen as a powerful tool to promote discipline and cognitive development among young minds.

The Andhra Chess Association has committed to supporting this initiative on a long-term basis. Sri Suresh Adusumilli affirmed that the association will continue to provide chess boards and learning materials to all children at the Home.

“Chess brings a positive shift in mindset. It calms the mind and opens new possibilities. This project gives these children a chance to spread their wings,” said Mr. P. Santosh, Founder of Ken Foundation, which is actively collaborating on this effort.

Special thanks to Smt. Chiluka Nayomi, Superintendent of the Government Children’s Home and Observation Home for Girls, Visakhapatnam, for her wholehearted support in facilitating the launch of this impactful program in partnership with the Andhra Chess Association and Ken Foundation.
