Chess for Change: Andhra Chess Association Brings Free Coaching & Boards to Underprivileged Students in Jangareddygudem
Jangareddygudem, Andhra Pradesh – As part of the International Chess Day celebrations on July 20, the Andhra Chess Association, under the visionary leadership of its President Sri Adusumilli Suresh garu, has launched a heartening initiative to promote chess among underprivileged and orphaned children. This social outreach programme aims to nurture talent among those who have the passion for the game but lack the financial means to pursue it.
In a special event held at the Government Boys High School, Jangareddygudem, deserving students were identified and provided with free chess boards, fostering encouragement and equal opportunity in the field of intellectual sport. The event was organised in collaboration with Sri Hamsa Chess Academy, Jangareddygudem.
The distribution ceremony took place in the esteemed presence of Headmaster Sri Somashekar garu, Physical Education Teachers Sri Peddinti Srinivas, Sri Gaddi Nageswara Rao, and Sri Dharavathu Gandhi, who extended their support and praised the initiative.
On behalf of Andhra Chess Association, Coach Sri Kanna Surya Nageswara Rao, representing Hamsa Chess Academy, announced that their academy would offer free coaching to interested students in accordance with the Association’s directive. He emphasized that chess, beyond being a game, helps sharpen memory, focus, logical reasoning, and overall cognitive growth.
Speaking at the event, Headmaster Sri Somashekar garu expressed heartfelt appreciation to Sri Adusumilli Suresh garu, President of the Andhra Chess Association, for launching such a meaningful programme. He noted that initiatives like these bring hope, opportunity, and inspiration to students in government schools who are often overlooked.
This effort is part of a larger vision championed by Sri Suresh garu to use chess as a tool for social transformation and empowerment, reaching into the most rural and economically backward communities of Andhra Pradesh.
