Sri K. Jagadish Leads Inspiring Chess Initiative at Kamakshi Prema Mandiram, Amalapuram – A Ray of Hope for Orphaned Children

Amalapuram, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema District – In a remarkable gesture of compassion and vision, Sri K. Jagadish, Secretary of the Andhra Chess Association and President of the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema District Chess Association, has launched a transformative chess initiative at Kamakshi Prema Mandiram, an orphanage home in Amalapuram, dedicated to the care and upbringing of disadvantaged children.

This initiative, undertaken as part of the International Chess Day celebrations, was inspired by the statewide call issued by Sri Adusumilli Suresh garu, President of the Andhra Chess Association, who urged chess leaders to introduce the game to underprivileged children, especially those in orphanages and care homes.

What sets this programme apart is Sri K. Jagadish’s exceptional personal commitment: he has pledged to bear all expenses related to the chess development of students from Kamakshi Prema Mandiram. This includes the entire cost of coaching, tournament entry fees, travel expenses, chess boards, clocks, and other essential infrastructure required to nurture competitive-level chess talent among these children.

Joining hands in this noble mission, Mr. Suresh Kumar T, Secretary of the District Chess Association, will provide regular and structured chess training to the students, ensuring sustained mentorship and grassroots development.

Speaking on the occasion, Sri K. Jagadish garu said, “These children deserve not just care, but a future filled with purpose and possibility. Chess can teach them discipline, resilience, and strategic thinking. I am committed to ensuring that no child at Kamakshi Prema Mandiram is denied the opportunity to rise through the game due to lack of resources.”

This initiative perfectly reflects the broader vision of Sri A. Suresh garu, whose motto “One Move Can Change a Life” continues to drive chess-based outreach across Andhra Pradesh, reaching the most deserving children and offering them a gateway to intellectual empowerment and self-belief.

The Andhra Chess Association proudly applauds Sri K. Jagadish garu for his visionary leadership, generosity, and heartfelt commitment to these children. His efforts stand as a shining example of how sport, when combined with compassion, can truly transform lives and uplift communities.
