Chess Ignites Minds at Parivarthana: ACA Launches Long-Term Coaching for Over 100 Children in Kakinada

Kakinada, East Godavari District – Along the vibrant shores of Andhra Pradesh’s Godavari coast, a transformative chess initiative has taken root at Parivartana Street Children’s Hostel in Bhaskar Nagar, Kakinada. In response to the clarion call from Sri Adusumilli Suresh, President of the Andhra Chess Association (ACA), long-term chess coaching has commenced, offering holistic empowerment to more than 100 vulnerable children residing at the home.

Parivartana, officially known as a hostel for street and orphaned children, provides fullboard shelter, free education, and emotional care, having rescued and rehabilitated young lives since its inception in Kakinada’s Bhaskar Nagar neighborhood  Recognising the trust’s immense social impact, Mrs Krishna Veni Bandi, Kakinada Coordinator, identified Parivartana as the perfect partner for ACA’s “Chess for Everyone” campaign.

Leading the initiative are Mr Kauru Jagadish, ACA Secretary and InCharge for Kakinada District, and Mrs Krishna Veni, who jointly launched the long-term coaching programme under ACA’s guidance. Jagadish garu has pledged 100% coverage of all related expenses, including coaching, tournament entry fees, travel, chess boards, clocks, and literature, ensuring no child is barred by lack of resources.

Describing his vision, Mr Jagadish shared:

“Our aim is to help these children develop cognitive strength, academic excellence, and life skills through chess. Over time, this may even lead to professional opportunities in chess coaching or competitive play.”

Chess as Catalyst for Growth

Within the nurturing walls of Parivartana, where education and rehabilitation are pillars of daily life, the introduction of chess marks a significant evolution. This programme is not just about moves and pieces—it is about building:

Mental resilience and strategic thinking,

Academic performance, through structured discipline,

And character growth, preparing children for leadership and opportunity.

Moreover, as the programme matures, a cycling system is planned: new children entering the hostel will seamlessly integrate into ongoing coaching cohorts, sustaining a vibrant chess culture within the institution.

A Landmark Collaboration in Kakinada

Kakinada, long known as a thriving coastal city and educational hub, now stands at the forefront of social innovation in child development. The synergy between ACA, Parivartana, and the local district team underscores the city’s growing role as a centre for socially conscious chess outreach.

This exceptional collaboration—driven by ACA’s leadership (Sri A. Suresh garu) and local visionaries—promises to generate not just future chess professionals, but empowered citizens, ready to excel in life.
