Chess Blossoms at Emmanuel Children’s Home: Pranavi Chess Academy Lights the Spark for 78 Young Minds in Bhimavaram
Bhimavaram, West Godavari District – In the heart of Andhra Pradesh’s coastal delta region lies Bhimavaram, a bustling town known for its educational spirit, cultural richness, and vibrant youth. Now, it also becomes home to a powerful social initiative — a long-term chess coaching programme that promises to reshape the future of 78 underprivileged children.
Emmanuel Children’s Home, under the compassionate leadership of Mr. Yekobu, has been a safe haven for orphaned and destitute children in Bhimavaram. With full board, free education, and a nurturing environment, the trust has created a life of dignity, hope, and opportunity for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Answering the noble call given by Sri A. Suresh, President of the Andhra Chess Association (ACA), the team at Pranavi Chess Academy, led by dedicated organiser Mr. Jalumuri Rambabu, identified Emmanuel Children’s Home as the ideal centre for chess-led transformation. The long-term chess coaching camp was formally launched by Mr Rambabu with a promise to mentor all 78 resident children of the home.
Chess as a Vehicle for Empowerment
Mr Rambabu, deeply inspired by ACA’s mission to introduce chess across orphanages and homes for the specially-abled, has committed to not only offer quality coaching but also support the children’s entire chess journey — from supplying chess boards, clocks, and materials to covering entry fees, travel expenses, and any tournament-related costs.
“We are not just teaching a game; we are opening doors to structured thinking, concentration, and career possibilities. In a place like Bhimavaram — where talent runs deep — chess will guide these children towards discipline and direction,” Mr Rambabu said at the launch.
A Trust Built on Faith and Commitment
Emmanuel Children’s Home, under Mr Yekobu’s leadership, is more than just a shelter — it is a community of care. The trust ensures that each child receives not only food and education but also the freedom to choose their academic path and extracurricular pursuits. This emphasis on holistic development makes the home an ideal partner for ACA’s “Chess for Every Child” campaign.
Now, with the introduction of a structured chess coaching programme, the children are set to embark on a new chapter — one filled with intellectual excitement, sporting discipline, and opportunities that transcend their current realities.
Bhimavaram’s Role in Shaping Futures
Often referred to as the "Second Bardoli" of India due to its contributions to freedom movements and cultural vibrancy, Bhimavaram is today emerging as a beacon of inclusive development through sports. With the Emmanuel Children’s Home chess project, this proud town of West Godavari reaffirms its commitment to empowering every child, regardless of their background.
This initiative not only marks a significant milestone in ACA’s social outreach programme but also serves as a model for how chess can serve as a tool for rehabilitation, education, and long-term transformation in young lives.
