In celebration of International Chess Day and under the impactful campaign “One Move Can Change a Life” initiated by the Andhra Chess Association, a special chess awareness and training program was conducted at Amma Charitable Trust, Guntur.
The event was organized by Night Castle Chess Academy, headed by Mr. Y.V.K. Chakravarthy, a FIDE Instructor (the top coaching title awarded by World Chess Federation) and a practicing High Court Advocate. Known for his dedication to social causes and chess promotion, Mr. Chakravarthy conducted the session with support from the trustees and staff of Amma Charitable Trust.
Empowering the Underprivileged through the Power of Chess
The primary goal of this program was to introduce children of the Trust to the world of chess and to unlock their intellectual potential through the game. The initiative was warmly received, with a strong commitment from Mr. Chakravarthy to provide:
Regular weekly chess coaching sessions
Personal mentoring and advanced training for children who demonstrate keen interest and talent
Adoption of selected students into a structured professional training pathway
“We don’t just want to teach chess — we want to shape lives and give these children a platform to dream and achieve,” said Mr. YVK Chakravarthy, expressing his deep commitment to the cause.
Visionary Leadership of Andhra Chess Association
The program is part of a statewide movement led by Sri Adusumilli Suresh, President of Andhra Chess Association, whose visionary leadership and unwavering support have brought structured chess education into underprivileged and orphanage communities across Andhra Pradesh.
“Sri Suresh Garu’s mission to democratize access to chess is inspiring us all to think bigger and serve better,” said Mr. Chakravarthy.
The cooperation extended by Amma Charitable Trust and the enthusiastic response from the children made the event a resounding success. The organizers lauded the Trust’s commitment to child welfare and education, and expressed hope for many future champions to emerge from this initiative.
With the continued support of Andhra Chess Association, this campaign is not just about pawns and kings — it’s about changing lives, one move at a time.
