SRR Charitable Trust Ignites Hope Through Chess at Child Aid Foundation on International Chess Day
Krishna District | July 20, 2025
On the occasion of International Chess Day, a new chapter in the journey of social empowerment through chess was written at the Child Aid Foundation. The event marked the beginning of a long-term, professionally structured chess coaching program for underprivileged children—an initiative of SRR Charitable Trust, in association with Krishna District Chess Association.
This noble program aims to transform lives by offering the timeless wisdom of chess to children who otherwise lack access to such developmental opportunities.
Championed by Compassion, Driven by Purpose
The event was gracefully initiated by Srmt. P. Renuka, Director of SRR Charitable Trust, who has been actively involved in supporting children’s education, health, and holistic development. Recognizing chess as a tool for mental discipline and strategic growth, the Trust stepped forward to introduce this unique initiative at the Child Aid Foundation Project.
Prominent personalities present at the program included:
Sri Goli Venu, a reputed Fitness Coach, who emphasized the role of physical and mental fitness in a chess player’s growth.
Sri A. Maniratnam, Chess Manager of Krishna District, who coordinated the chess setup and will be overseeing the coaching module.
Management of Child Aid Foundation, whose wholehearted support has made the venue a hub of meaningful transformation.
Chess Boards, Coaching & Beyond
As part of the program:
Chess boards and coins were donated to all resident children at the foundation.
A long-term free coaching camp was launched, aimed at nurturing chess skills from the grassroots level.
SRR Charitable Trust further committed to sponsoring talented children from the foundation to participate in district, state, national, and international-level chess tournaments, ensuring their continued progress and exposure.
District-Level Support Seals the Deal
The event was strongly supported and coordinated by the Krishna District Chess Association, under the able leadership of Sri N.M. Phani Kumar, Secretary of Krishna District Chess Association.
In a major boost to the program’s impact, Mr. Phani Kumar assured that all children from the Child Aid Foundation would be sponsored into district-level selection tournaments and open chess events, in both NTR and Krishna Districts opening new doors for their competitive future.
Chess: A Game for All, A Gift for Life
The collaborative effort between SRR Charitable Trust, Child Aid Foundation, and the Krishna District Chess Association is not just a celebration of chess but a deeper commitment to social inclusion and intellectual development.
As Smt. Renuka passionately stated:
“Every child deserves the power to think, to strategize, and to dream. Chess teaches all three. We are proud to invest in their future.”
