Andhra Pradesh Secures Three Medals at Asian Schools Chess Championship 2025, Mongolia

India’s young chess stars made the nation proud at the Asian Schools Chess Championship 2025 held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, bringing home eight medals. Among these, three were won by Andhra Pradesh players, reaffirming the state’s emergence as a stronghold of school-level chess excellence.

The trio — Samuel Stephen Noble S, Gyana Sai Santhosh M, and Thripurambika V — delivered outstanding performances across formats, demonstrating both discipline and competitive maturity nurtured through Andhra’s structured ranking tournaments.

Samuel Stephen Noble S – Silver Medal (U-13 Boys Standard)

In the U-13 Boys Standard category, Samuel Stephen Noble S (rating 2030) produced a brilliant run, scoring 7.5 points out of 9 rounds and finishing second on tiebreaks.  Samuel’s calm, positional style and end-game precision earned him the Silver Medal, marking one of India’s finest results in the classical section.

Gyana Sai Santhosh M – Bronze Medal (U-17 Boys Rapid)

In the U-17 Boys Rapid event, Gyana Sai Santhosh M (rating 1899) showcased strategic depth beyond his years. Scoring 5 points out of 7 rounds, he secured the Bronze Medal .  Gyana’s medal is a testament to Andhra Pradesh’s ability to produce players who excel even in senior youth categories.

Thripurambika V – Bronze Medal (U-13 Girls Blitz)

Displaying excellent reflexes and composure in the high-speed Blitz format, Thripurambika V (rating 1593) scored 7 points out of 9, finishing third. Her tactical sharpness and ability to handle complex positions under severe time constraints earned her the Bronze Medal, capping off Andhra’s third podium finish at the championship.

Andhra Pradesh: A Growing Powerhouse in Indian Chess

Out of India’s eight total medals, three came from Andhra Pradesh, highlighting the strength of the state’s chess foundation. The Andhra Chess Association (ACA) has been instrumental in this rise, with its State Ranking Tournament system running consistently over the past four years. These tournaments have provided invaluable exposure and competition, helping players transition smoothly to national and international stages.

“Our players’ success in Mongolia is not a coincidence,” an ACA spokesperson noted. “It reflects the structured ecosystem we’ve built through regular ranking tournaments, coaching initiatives, and transparent selection processes. Andhra Pradesh is steadily building the next generation of masters.”

From State Ranks to Future Masters

The performances of Samuel, Gyana Sai Santhosh, and Thripurambika show the growing maturity of Andhra’s chess ecosystem — one that balances discipline, coaching, and opportunity. With continued support, these young stars are expected to rise to higher international titles, carrying Andhra Pradesh to new milestones in the global chess arena.

The Andhra Chess Association (ACA) heartily congratulates Samuel Stephen Noble S, Gyana Sai Santhosh M, and Thripurambika V for their exceptional performances and for bringing laurels to both India and Andhra Pradesh at the Asian Schools Chess Championship 2025. The Association also extends its appreciation to all parents, coaches, and academies involved in nurturing these talented youngsters.
