In a significant development for the chess community, the Andhra Chess Association (ACA) convened its General Body Meeting on March 29, 2026, under the presidentship  of Sri  Adusumilli Suresh, unveiling a series of progressive decisions aimed at strengthening player development and participation across the state.

Mandatory Participation & Digital Integration

One of the key resolutions mandates that all players must participate in respective State Championships to be eligible for National events. This move ensures a structured and merit-based selection pathway.

Further, integration with the KREEDA App of the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) has been made compulsory, marking a major step toward digitization and transparency in player records and tournament participation.

Financial Support & Incentives for Players

The ACA has significantly strengthened financial support for players.  Minimum ₹5,000 support per selected player in all age groups  for national participation and  ₹3,000 for 60 players for school nationals (towards entry fee, travel, dress, etc.).

Incentives for Medal Winners and Title Achievers

The Andhra Chess Association has introduced a comprehensive incentive system to recognize and encourage both medal winners and title achievers at national and international levels. Players who bring laurels to the state through podium finishes, as well as those who attain prestigious international titles, will be duly honoured with appropriate rewards and recognition. This initiative reflects the Association’s strong commitment to promoting excellence and motivating players to achieve higher standards of performance, thereby enhancing the state’s presence on the global chess stage.

New District Affiliations:

The Andhra Chess Association has approved the affiliation of several new district chess associations, further strengthening the organizational structure across the state. This move ensures better administration, improved player access to official tournaments, and systematic development of chess at the grassroots level. The newly affiliated districts will function under ACA guidelines, promoting uniform standards, transparency, and wider opportunities for players to participate in recognized events.

Launch of Andhra Chess Academies

In a landmark initiative, the Andhra Chess Association announced the launch of Andhra Chess Academies aimed at reaching weaker sections and middle-income groups. The program will be implemented under the supervision of Ch Ravindra Raju,FIDE Instructor,  Convenor of the Coaching Committee, ensuring structured training, quality coaching, and effective execution across the state.

These reforms ensure transparency, fairness, and professionalism in tournaments. With these comprehensive reforms, the Andhra Chess Association has taken a decisive step toward player welfare, transparency, and systematic growth of chess in the state. The combination of structured pathways, and grassroots initiatives is expected to produce stronger talent pipelines and elevate Andhra Pradesh’s presence in national and international chess arenas.
