Young Stars Selected to Represent Andhra Pradesh at National U-9 Chess Championship

The Andhra Pradesh State Under-9 Chess Championship concluded on a grand and memorable note at Annavaram, one of the most प्रसिद्ध spiritual destinations of the state, known for the revered Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy Temple. The serene hilltop surroundings and devotional atmosphere added a unique charm to the tournament, making it a special experience for young players and their families.

The championship witnessed an overwhelming response, with more than 400 parents and attendants accompanying the participants, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for chess at the grassroots level in Andhra Pradesh.

In the Open (Boys) Category,
�� Gokula Nandan Reddy Bhumireddy (NTR District) emerged as the Champion with an impressive 6.5/7 points.
�� Lakshith Gutti (Visakhapatnam) secured the Runner-up position, also scoring 6.5/7 points, finishing on tie-breaks.

In the Girls Category,
�� Arisapu Vedhaanshi (East Godavari) clinched the Champion title with 6.5/7 points.
�� Yaswitha Varma Penumasta (West Godavari) secured the Runner-up position with 6/7 points.

The top two players in both Open and Girls categories have been officially selected to represent Andhra Pradesh at the forthcoming National Under-9 Chess Championship.

Adding to the grandeur of the event, all participants were presented with customised mementos, while trophies were awarded to the top 10 players in each category, encouraging young talent and recognising their efforts. Medals were distributed to all participants, and free food arrangements were provided throughout the tournament, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone.

The tournament concluded successfully, not only identifying the state’s finest young players but also strengthening the vision of the Andhra Chess Association in promoting chess at the grassroots level and building a strong foundation for future champions.
