Silver Oaks Shines in Chess – Clinches Gold State Championship
Silver Oaks International School (Visakhapatnam) sounded the bugle of victory at the U12 Andhra Pradesh State Level Schools Team Chess Championship-2026, held in Guntur. In this mega event that saw 68 school teams from across the state compete, the Silver Oaks team remained unbeaten through all seven rounds. With six match wins and one draw, the team amassed a total of 13 match points and 21.5 tiebreak points, finishing at the top of the table to claim the Championship Trophy.

This remarkable triumph has paved the way for the Silver Oaks International School chess team to advance to the national level. The team will now officially represent the state of Andhra Pradesh at the National Schools Team Chess Championship (Nationals).
Expressing their delight over the students' extraordinary talent, members of the All Visakha Chess Association office-bearers — Dr. Baburao (President), S. Manikanta Rao (Secretary), N. Umamaheswara Rao (Treasurer), and V. Srikanth (CAO) — expressed pride over the team's outstanding performance, stating that this success adds another feather to Visakhapatnam's growing chess legacy. The Association noted that this victory brings further pride to the chess fraternity of Visakhapatnam.
