Current Regulations for Team Championships:
"For team championships, normal entries will be determined by the current FIDE rating of the players. For additional teams, the selection committee will form B and C teams from interested players based on their individual current ratings. If specific selections are conducted for team championships, performance in the selection tournament will be the primary criterion. However, players with a FIDE rating above 2200 and titled players such as GMs, IMs, WIMs, and WGMs who wish to participate in the team are exempted from the selection process. These players, based on their ratings, can constitute the A team. In such cases, the selection tournament will apply only to the B and C teams representing Andhra Pradesh."
2025 Team Championship Details ( Men & Women )
Dates: 16th February to 22nd February 2025

Key Details on Team Composition and Selection:
Eligibility:
(a) Each affiliated state association can send a maximum of three teams (one regular entry + two special entries), denoted as "A," "B," and "C" suffixed with the state name. Institution members of AICF are entitled to send two teams for each championship, labeled "A" (regular entry) and "B" (special entry).
(b) The host, All Odisha Chess Association, is entitled to include one additional team in each championship.
(c) In case of an odd number of entries, the host has the right to add one more entry to make it even in both categories.
(d) Only Indian nationals are eligible to participate in the championships.
(e) Teams are not allowed to participate under club, academy, or district names.
Composition of the Team:
Each team (men & women) shall consist of four players and one reserve player. Teams will be seeded based on the average rating of their best four players. While submitting entries, the names of all players, their FIDE IDs, and respective FIDE ratings (if applicable) must be provided to assist arbiters in calculating the team’s average rating for seeding. These names and ratings should be reconfirmed in person at the Technical Meeting. The fixed board order must be decided by the team captain/manager before or during the Technical Meeting.
Special Selection Note for Andhra Pradesh 2025:
As no team selections were conducted in 2024, the selection of teams (both men and women) will follow the procedure outlined in ACA regulations. The selection committee, headed by Mr. Abdul Azeez, FI, will oversee the process.
